Where Propulsion Meets Precision
Services Provided
Propeller Reworks
Propeller Rebuild : Propellers entering the shop for reworks are assessed for damage to determine if reworking is a viable option. Reworks include Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Brass & Nibral up to 52” in diameter, and are aided by MRI Technology.
Propeller Repitch : Our goal is help your vessel functions at optimum performance. Altering pitch ensures your engine/s ability to operate within the manufacturer's Wide Open Throttle range. If your pitch is too high, the engine is under increased strain; if it is too low, you risk over-speeding and damaging the engine.
Antifouling
PropSpeed : We provide professional PropSpeed application directly in our shop to ensure your running gear stays in peak condition. This industry-leading foul-release coating prevents barnacles and marine growth from sticking to your propellers, maximizing your vessel's speed and fuel efficiency while protecting your investment from the costly effects of corrosion and drag.
Zinc Spray : We offer professional Zinc Spray application in-shop to provide your propellers with a high-performance, anti-corrosive barrier. This specialized "cold galvanizing" process protects your investment by creating a sacrificial layer that stops electrolysis and saltwater corrosion from damaging your expensive underwater hardware.
Propeller Sales
New : With thousands of factors affecting the performance of each vessel, no two will function exactly the same. Coupling our expertise in the field and knowledge of the current markets, customers seeking new propellers can find confidence in making their investment. Our distribution and inventory includes many of the world’s leading producers in Marine Propulsion such as: Veem, Zf, Acme, Volvo, Power-Tech, Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Michigan Wheel.
Used : Our goal is help your vessel functions at optimum performance. Altering pitch ensures your engine/s operates within the manufacturer's Wide Open Throttle range. If your pitch is too high, the engine is under increased strain; if it is too low, you risk over-speeding and damaging the engine/s.
Shafting
Manufacturing : As a distributor for Western Branch Metals, we have the ability to manufacture drive shafts up to 8” in diameter and 32’ in length.
Maintenance : Having your boat's drive shaft/s routinely assessed for damage is critical to avoid damage to your boat and vital components. Unlike other engine components, propeller shafts often fail suddenly without the warning signs of a gradual breakdown. Even minor issues can lead to catastrophic failure, potentially leaving you stranded or causing severe hull damage. Misalignment or imbalance in your shafts can also cause excessive vibration, increased fuel consumption, and premature failure of transmission bearings and shaft seals.
Lower Unit Repair
Skeg & Cavitation Plate : If you're running a boat with an outboard motor, chances are you’ve hit a submerged object with the lower unit. The health, shape, and function of your skeg and cavitation plate are vital to the overall maneuverability of your boat. If you’ve damaged either, we will repair these and return them to a highly functional rebuilt condition including repainting to OEM colors at the customers request.
FAQs
1. Can I ship Propellers into your shop?
Yes, we strive to provide our customers with premium services at honest prices no matter where they are located. Whether you’re a private customer shipping a single Stainless Steel / Aluminum prop through a parcel carrier, or one of the many yards on the East Coast that freight their wheels into our shop. We we are dedicated to ensuring you receive the individualized experience that you deserve.
2. What do I need to do to ship a propeller in?
Shipping a propeller into us for a rework couldn’t be easier. Address the package to “Murphys Propeller Shop.” In the package include a note with the following written Legibly: Your Name; Your Phone Number; what service you’d like us to perform or what issues you need remedied. We will give you a call if we have any questions when your package arrives.
3. Do you have a Loaner Program for propellers?
Yes, ask us about our Propeller Loaner Program (PLP). We have an extensive inventory of used propellers. In an attempt to ensure our customers are making the correct purchase we have employed the PLP. To borrow any of our used stock, the following must be satisfied: A completed information sheet provided in house; a valid ID; a completed $15 credit card charge for an allotted time period. In this time period you may swap to any prop within engine manufacturer and specified gear case range.
4. Do you fix Gear Cases?
Yes… and no. We provide expert repair and restoration services for gear case housings, focusing on structural integrity and surface protection. Please note that while we specialize in refurbishing the external housing (Largest majority without damaging seals), we do not repair the internal gears themselves. This service ensures your investment is protected from the elements and remains leak-free, providing a solid foundation for your vessel's mechanical components.
